Meet the Artist Richard John

Hello, I am Richard a UK contemporary artist from North West England in Cumbria. Home of the Lake District and the wild Cumbrian coast, both of which gives me inspiration for my paintings.

Growing up I have always enjoyed drawing and at age 18 went to study fine art and sculpture at Carlisle College of Art.

I continue today making a living as an artist in a range of different styles. Over the past few years my favourite painting medium has been, oils, acrylic and watercolour.

Creating art from paintings to sculpture to body decoration has given me a way of life to connect with nature, the mountains, the lakes and the sea I live beside.

Hopefully also giving others a way to enjoy a peaceful moment in another world, escaping the fast pace of modern life.

Today I live at home with my wife, two grown up children and my goldfish, another of my passions. And yes my family do just roll their eyes when they see me talking to the fish again.
